FFL TRANSFERS
INCOMING FFL TRANSFERS​
FFL stands for Federal Firearms License. Businesses such as gun shops, gun ranges, some pawn shops, and most sporting goods stores have an FFL. They have a Federal Firearms License in order to conduct legal firearm transfers in their store for their customers. A Federal Firearms License Transfer (also called an FFL Transfer) is necessary when you wish to purchase a firearm from another FFL gun shop, FFL gun range, FFL pawn shop, FFL sporting goods store, FFL Online Store or a private individual and have it shipped to our store for pickup. Our FFL Transfer Fee is $25.00 per firearm. Please allow us processing time of up to 3 business days from the day your firearm is delivered to our store for your firearm to be received, processed, and logged in our books before we contact you for pickup.
You will need to complete an ATF Form 4473 for the necessary background check when you come to pick up your firearm from us. We will require a valid form of government issued I.D. upon pick up of all firearm transfers. Your correct legal name and current address is required by law to be on the government issued I.D. you present to pick up your firearm. Only the person whose name is on the transferred firearm’s paperwork can legally pick up the firearm. You must be the original purchaser of the firearm in order to pick up the firearm.
We do not accept firearms shipped from individuals with a residential address or from any person or business without a federal firearms license. We only accept firearms that are FFL transfers from other FFL businesses who run legal and licensed businesses such as FFL gun shops, FFL gun ranges, FFL pawn shops, and FFL sporting goods stores. If you are an individual that does not have a Federal Firearms License that wishes to ship us a firearm for an FFL transfer, we require that you bring the firearm to your local FFL gun shop, FFL gun range, FFL pawn shop, or FFL sporting goods store that has a valid Federal Firearms License and have them mail the firearm to us.

Any firearm sent to us from a residential address or from any person or business without a Federal Firearms License will be returned to the sender’s nearest local FFL gun shop, FFL gun range, FFL pawn shop, or FFL sporting goods store at the sender’s cost. This cost will include paying for return shipping and a $75.00 fee for our time spent returning the firearm. Failure to comply with this policy will result in the improperly shipped and received firearm forfeited and submitted to local law enforcement to be legally destroyed. Louisiana Firearms is not liable for any damages incurred to any firearm being transferred to our store. Failure to accept transfer after one year from the delivery date at our store will result in forfeiture of the firearm to Louisiana Firearms.

Incoming Distributor Drop Ship Transfers: If you prefer to pay another FFL gun shop, FFL gun range, FFL pawn shop, FFL sporting goods store, FFL Online Store, business or private individual for a firearm that they do not have in their possession and they have it drop shipped to us from a firearm distributor/wholesaler or sporting goods distributor/wholesaler, we charge a $100.00 distributor/wholesaler drop ship transfer fee. This is different from a normal FFL transfer. If you require further clarification on this situation or fee, please call us at our store during normal business hours to discuss it.

OUTGOING FFL TRANSFERS

A Federal Firearms License Transfer (also called an FFL Transfer) is necessary when you wish to purchase a firearm from us and have that firearm shipped to your local FFL gun shop, FFL gun range, FFL pawn shop, or FFL sporting goods store for pickup near you. Most items such as ammunition, accessories, optics, and gear you buy from us we can ship directly to you. Firearms are the only items that we cannot ship directly to you.

Firearms are defined as handguns, rifles, shotguns, lower receivers, and frames etc. We can ship any firearm you buy from us to your local FFL gun shop, FFL gun range, FFL pawn shops, or FFL sporting goods store near you of your choosing for you to pick up your firearm at. You simply need to let us know which local FFL business you would like for us to send your firearm to when you make your purchase. Once we receive and verify that the Federal Firearms License of the local FFL business you have chosen to pick up your firearm at is valid, we will then ship your firearm to them for you to pick up there. Your local FFL business will probably charge you an FFL transfer fee at pickup to transfer the firearm to you. This fee is charged to you for their time spent completing your background check and completing the necessary paperwork for you to pick up your firearm.

Please contact your local FFL business that you have chosen to pick up your firearm at before your shipment from us is made to find out what they will charge you for their FFL transfer fee and to verify that they are currently accepting transfers. Louisiana Firearms’ standard shipping rates for firearms within the CONUS are $35.00 per handgun and $50.00 per long gun. Additional shipping fees may apply for oversized and/or overweight packages.
We make every attempt to ship your firearm(s) as quickly as possible. All firearms are shipped promptly from our in-store inventory within 3 business days of purchase using UPS, FedEx, or USPS. Louisiana Firearms is not liable for any damages incurred to the firearm once it has been picked up by the postal carrier and the firearm has left our store.
